I've found that most people want to eat right, but their hectic modern lifestyles seem to get in the way. Then there are others who argue that they get the basic food groups when they eat a hamburger with fries.
Anatomy of a Fast Food "Meal"
It's true when you eat a hamburger, you get a bun with a meat patty and maybe a piece of lettuce, a slice of tomato and a little sprinkle of chopped onion. Somewhere in the dark recesses of time that white, bleached flour bun had its genesis in wholesome kernels of wheat. However, the bun is a mere shadow of the original product since the nutritious fiber, oils and vitamins have been stripped out.
The meat is filled with antibiotics, hormones, fat, and who knows what other toxins from animals that ate food grown on lands sprayed with herbicides, pesticides, and other toxins. The vegetables were picked long ago and are pretty much devoid of life-giving enzymes, vitamins and minerals.
And the french fries do not resemble at all the roots from which they sprang. They’ve been peeled, soaked, cut, then cooked in hot grease. These denatured oils are sources of rogue oxygen molecules called free radicals--known to attack the body’s cells and contribute to degenerative disease.
Artificial flavorings and high amounts of sodium are added to season these lifeless foods, since the original appetizing natural flavorings have been destroyed.
To compound the problem, most fast foods are washed down with a can of caffeinated soda or a high fructose corn syrup “juice drink.” I’ve talked to teenagers who tell me that these types of beverages are all they have for breakfast. The sugary, puffed, artificially colored prepared cereals aren’t any better. These types of “foods” are diabetes time-bombs, as well as contributing to osteoporosis and an overall toxic burden on the body.
Commercial Fast Foods Low in Nutrition
Well, first the bad news and then the good. Today’s fast foods: hot dogs, hamburgers, and the like are just filled with too much junk. Your body has to really scavenge to find anything nutritionally redeemable with which to fortify or repair cells and tissues. Commercial fast foods just plain contain too much:
